Mark is going to Mississippi to help out Katrina's victims. I saw on a news special that interrupted my soap they are sending up to 7000 guard troops!! I'm really sad that I won't see him for a while, but I feel good that he's going for something good. I just wish we had more notice of him going (like they could have called yesterday) so I could spend better time with him. I think he's a little nervous, but mostly because he doesn't know what to expect or what he'll be doing, but at the same time I think he's excited. Who'd guess how directly affected my little family up north here would be by Katrina?
I had my school orientation today & it went pretty good. I wasn't as shy as I usually am in those kind of social situations. We had our English & math assessments. I aced the English, but didn't even understand any of the math! It was "elementary algebra" I recognised the terminology (like 'integer') and the weird symbols, like the stuff in parenthesis and the little bitty numbers by the big number. ... I felt so stupid, I didn't even guess on the test, I deserve to take the math, I just hope they know what they're getting themselves into with the free tutoring...

You'll do fine. Math is tough but you are tough too so I know you will get through it! If I could go back to school after all my years out and ace I have every confidence you can too!!!
